This graduation paper studies the book "The orion mystery: unlocking the secrets of the pyramids", especially the Giza pyramid complex in general and the Great Pyramid in particular, and analyses some contents such as phrasal verbs, multi-meaning words, as long with challenging structures like empty subject, passive voice, simple, compound sentences,... in this book. Thanks to this study, I got many experiences and improved my translation skills during translation time. Moreover, I could use my translation style and the knowledge I learned in the past four years to translate and express smoothly and naturally authors' ideas to readers.

The first thing that I want to mention is the contemporary romance between the two main characters - Piper and Brendan in Westport, the fishing village where Piper was born. Two individuals with two utter dissimilar lives - a trendy city girl forced to spend her summers in a fishing village and a rugged fishing boat captain - met, attracted to each other, and then fell in love. They overcame several challenges and reached a happy ending. Another thing that excites me equally is the transformation of Piper. During her time living in the fishing village, she went from a flighty party girl socialite to someone who understood the value of money, hard work, and what real love is. She found value in herself with the help of Brendan, her sister Hannah, and the people in the small town. In addition, the affection between Piper and Hannah is also admirable. They genuinely care about one another, and there is never any disagreement between them regarding the decisions they make. Finally, I hope that the suggested translation will be enjoyable for Vietnamese readers who are interested in this book as well as provide everyone with an analysis of the ways for proper translating and dealing with challenging phrases and structures.

An analysis of the suggested translation of chapter 4 from the book “The lucifer effect” by Philip G.Zimbardo, 2017

Zimbardo narrates the whole narrative of the Stanford prison experiment, the seminal research in which a group of college-student volunteers was randomly separated into "guards" and "inmates" and then placed in a mimic prison setting, for the first time and in detail. Zimbardo's work illuminates the psychological causes of such disturbing transformations, allowing us to better understand a wide range of harrowing phenomena, from corporate malfeasance to organized genocide to how oncehonorable American soldiers came to abuse and torture Iraqi detainees at Abu Ghraib. He substitutes the long-held notion of the "bad apple" with the "bad barrel"—the idea that the social environment and system infect the individual rather than the other way around. He claims that we are capable of rejecting evil and that we can even educate ourselves to act courageously. The Lucifer Effect, like Hannah Arendt's Eichmann in Jerusalem and Steven Pinker's The Blank Slate, is a frightening, enthralling study that will revolutionize the way we understand human conduct.

Therefore, I decided to translate this book after becoming fascinated by its content. I concentrate to the translation of chapters 1 and 2. These two chapters revolve around the main character's life, he is the son of a rich family but lives a life of hate; He met the love of his life she was in college and they got married and gave birth to three baby boys and his family’s new life. Besides, troubles have come to the other family’s, no power in society.
