My area of expertise is interpreting and translating. The topic I chose for my graduation thesis was a suggested translation of chapter I entitled: “Forming the female wage labor force: colonial America to the civil war” of the book “OUT TO WORK – A history of wage-earning women in the United States” by Alice Kessler-Harris. This book traces the transformation of "women's work" into wage labor in the United States, identifying the social, economic, and ideological forces that have shaped our expectations of what women do, examines the influence of class, ethnic and racial patterns on changing perceptions of salaried work on women. This graduation helps translators improve their translation skills and understand the strengths and weaknesses of the translation.

The research scope of the graduate paper is Chapter 6 - The crisis of decolonization: Southern Africa extracted from Odd Arne Westad's book “The Global Cold War: Third World Interventions and the Making of Our Times”. The study aims at finding the causes of ambiguity factors and then suggesting some possible strategies to overcome the problems. In addition, I practice my ability to analyze complex terminology and structures by applying theories, translation strategies, and theoretical issues to documents. My translation abilities have greatly increased as a result of translating and studying this thesis. Moreover, I also learned how to deal with problems in the original text to get a better version of the proposal.

I chose “Belive It To Achive It” to translate because letting go of negative thoughts is one of the most important steps to have a successful, and fulfilling life, but it's also often very difficult, whether this negativity stems from a relationship that ended badly in the past, a childhood trauma, a business or career failure, or general insecurity. Authors Tracy and Stein help readers realize how consciously - and often unconsciously - negativity affects their personality, outlook, and decisions. Since the purpose of the graduation paper is not only to help Vietnamese readers learn to accept unexpected changes in life, but also to discuss translation versions and translation methods which are hopefully useful for individuals and translators who work in the field of translation, I chose chapter 5 of the book “Belive It To Achieve It” by Brian Tracy, Christina Stein for my graduation title.

The book “Life's Challenges” to translate because I am interested in the author's own way of overcoming challenges in life and besides, I also learned a lot of good lessons from him. I am a hot-tempered person and very impatient but reading this book has changed my mind. It is very helpful for me and so I want to translate this book so that people can have a new perspective and easily overcome the challenges in their own life.

In 2020, the covid-19 pandemic broke out quite strongly, causing some countries to close without trading so it was a huge impact. In fact, 86% of the nearly 200 countries for which the International Monetary Fund has released updated reports have seen GDP decline in 2020. And the pandemic will leave lasting "scars". However, it will be the goal for us to accelerate to rapidly improve the global economy. According to the announcement of the IMF (International Monetary Fund), the growth rate in this period has increased slightly compared to the previous one, most of this growth is due to the improvement of the world's most advanced economies, and "recovery is different" from country to country. Wanting to know more about the difficulties and solutions for the future, I have chosen chapters 1 and 2 of the report World economic outlook.
