Mục tiêu nghiên cứu nhằm khảo sát một số yếu tố tiên lượng nặng và tử vong ở bệnh nhân đái tháo đường typ 2 mắc COVID-19 tại Bệnh viện điều trị người bệnh COVID-19. Nghiên cứu tiến hành trên 241 bệnh nhân đái tháo đường typ 2 mắc covid từ tháng 11/2021 đến tháng 3/2022.

Nhằm đánh giá mô hình bệnh lý viêm đường hô hấp trên tại các tỉnh thuộc khu vực giáp Vịnh Bắc bộ. Thiết kế nghiên cứu: mô tả cắt ngang, thống kê các bệnh lý viêm đường hô hấp trên tại 6 bệnh viện tỉnh: Ninh Bình, Nam Định, Thái Bình, Hải Phòng, Thanh Hoá, Quảng Ninh.

Nghiên cứu nhằm đánh giá tính an toàn và hiệu quả của sinh thiết màng hoạt dịch dưới hướng dẫn siêu âm trong chẩn đoán một số bệnh lý khớp thường gặp với 49 bệnh nhân được thực hiện từ tháng 11/2019 đến tháng 5/2022.

Nghiên cứu được thực hiện theo phương pháp mô tả cắt ngang gồm 47 bệnh nhân được phẫu thuật từ tháng 8/2018 đến tháng 12/2021. Các bệnh nhân trong nghiên cứu có độ tuổi trung bình là 51, nguyên nhân chính là lao phổi có 28 trường hợp, chiếm 60%, các nguyên nhân khác bao gồm viêm, ung thư chiếm tỷ lệ lần lượt là 25% và 15%. Thời gian phẫu thuật trung bình là 61 phút, thời gian lưu dẫn lưu màng phổi sau mổ là 3,6 ngày. Không có trường hợp bệnh nhân nào tử vong, có 1 trường hợp có biến chứng tràn khí màng phổi sau mổ.

Severe congenital neutropenia (SCN) is a congenital condition in which granulocytes mature abnormally owing to a variety of genetic defects, resulting in immunodeficiency. Among the several genetic variations related to SCN, heterozygous mutations in the ELANE gene encoding neutrophil elastase account for approximately 60% of the genetic causes. Here, we present three patients from different Vietnamese families who were susceptible to infectious diseases such as lung abscesses, sepsis, cellulitis, and septicemia. Moreover, their hematological and immunological parameters were below the reference range. Whole exome sequencing (WES) analysis was performed in all cases harboring three previously described disease-causing mutations, including p.Arg103Pro, p.Trp156Arg, and p.Arg81Pro in the ELANE gene (NM_001972.4). These mutations were confirmed by the Sanger sequencing method in the patients, helping to identify de novo mutations in all cases. Our data increase more evidence for the function of ELANE in SCN, as well as raise awareness of this rare disease in the context of frequent infections in Vietnam.

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by abnormal proliferation and differentiation of keratinocytes and infiltration of inflammatory cells into the site of inflammation. Plaque psoriasis is the most common type of psoriasis, affecting up to 80–90% of psoriasis cases. Among inflammatory cells, myeloid dendritic cells or Langerhans cells are mainly activated cells during the pathogenesis of psoriasis to induce activation and differentiation of naive T cells into T helper cells (Th)1 and Th17 cells. SH2 domain-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase (SHP) is a negative regulator of the phosphorylation of several proteins involved in cellular differentiation, growth and activation. Chronic inflammation promotes tumor progression, which is characterized by the release of carcinogenic antigens, including alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and cancer antigen 125 (CA125) into blood and urine. They are common tumor markers to serve as predictors of cancer development and survival of cancer patients. To this end, blood samples of 103 psoriasis patients and 46 healthy subjects were collected. This study further hint for investigations on the functional role of SHP1 in regulating activation of immune cells present in psoriasis patients.

Myeloid leukemia (ML) is a cancer of the blood that begins when cells of the myeloid lineage uncontrollably change and grow. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a disorder of rapid, uncontrolled growth of immature myeloid cells in the blood and bone marrow. Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is characterized by the aberrant proliferation of myeloid cells and driven by the translocation of regions of the BCR and ABL genes to form the Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome. To this end, blood samples of 20 AML and 62 CML patients and the control group consisting of 37 healthy individuals were used to examine the mRNA expression of A20, OTUB1, OTUB2 and Cezanne genes by using quantitative RT-PCR and determine IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1β concentrations by using ELISA. In conclusion, this study revealed the different DUB involvement in the pathogenesis of ML, suggesting further investigations on gene polymorphisms and their functions linked to biological properties of leukemia cells.

The majority of autoimmune and allergic diseases are associated with abnormal expression of interleukin (IL)-33, a member of the IL-1 family of cytokines, that function dually as a proinflammatory cytokine and a transcriptional factor. We created an IL-33 inhibitor called "IL-33 Trap Fc" constructed by fusion of an Fc fragment of human immunoglobulin G1 and two distinct extracellular part receptors involved in interacting with IL-33, IL-1 receptors accessory protein, and IL-33 receptor. IL-33 Trap Fc was expressed by two systems, mammalian HEK293 cells and Pichia pastoris yeast. These data collectively suggested that IL-33 Trap Fc potently blocks IL-33 in vitro and in vivo, which may be a novel therapeutic strategy for IL-33-mediated allergic diseases.

This study investigates the impacts of surfaces’ wettability on protein conformation. In order to get the insights, organosilicate (OGS) was utilized to modify the tissue culture plate, resulting in surfaces with different wettability, followed by fibronectin (FN) immobilization. Then, the surfaces were used to study the fibrinogen interaction, cell attachment, and spreading. The results showed that OGS-modified surfaces produced four different wettability, ranging from super-hydrophilic (OGS150), hydrophilic (OGS100), hydrophobic (OGS60), to super-hydrophobic (OGS5). Each surface possessed particular nature, resulting in the variation of FN molecules' structural change. The amount of FN adsorbed on the OGS-coated surfaces was shown not to be perfectly proportional to the results of fibrinogen interaction, cell attachment, and spreading. The super-hydrophobic surfaces (OGS5) were highest in the amount of immobilized FN and the efficiency in subsequent experiments among the OGS-coated surfaces group. Notably, the hydrophobic surface adsorbed the lowest amount of FN but achieved remarkable results in the following experiments. Thus, this study holds a promising potential in producing biocompatible materials in tissue engineering.

In this study, Lactobacillus plantarum VFE-04, L. rhamnosus VFE-08, and L. plantarum VFE-14, had been isolated from Vietnamese healthy adults, were able to deconjugate glycodeoxycholate (GDC) on MRS plates and MRS broth supplemented with GDC. In addition, deconjugating activity of L. plantarum VFE-04, L. rhamnosus VFE-08, and L. plantarum VFE-14 were also found in cell-free extract as expressed by amount of glycine that released in the supernatant. Four bsh genes including bsh1, bsh2, bsh3, and bsh4 have been identified by PCR in these strains. In addition, L. plantarum VFE-04, L. rhamnosus VFE-08, and L. plantarum VFE-14 also showed high ability to resist bile salts and low pH. The results of 16S rRNA gene analyses showed that L. plantarum VFE-04, L. rhamnosus VFE-08, and L. plantarum VFE-14 and had high similarity scores with L. plantarum ZZU 23 (100%), L. rhamnosus JCM 1136 (99%) and L. plantarum S7 (98.65%), respectively. This study suggests that L. plantarum VFE-04, L. rhamnosus VFE-08, and L. plantarum VFE-14 have the potential to be explored as probiotics in the management of hypercholesterolaemia in near future.
