231 Association study of NAT2 rs1799931 polymorphism with male infertility / Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Pham Tien Duc, Tran Huu Dinh, Nguyen Thuy Duong // .- 2023 .- Vol 21 - Number 3 .- P. 425-433 .- 610
Infertility is a complex disease that is characterized by the failure to achieve pregnancy after 24 months of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse. Various factors result in male sterility, including genetic and non-genetic factors. Recently, scientists have drawn attention to the role of metabolic genes in contributing to the risk of male infertility by inducing reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, such studies about N-acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2), an enzyme that participates in phase II metabolism, remain limited. Thus, this study investigated whether the NAT2 rs1799931 variant was associated with idiopathic male sterility in Vietnam. A total of 306 DNA samples (148 cases and 158 controls) were genotyped using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) methods. About 20% of randomly selected samples were confirmed using an allele-specific polymerase chain reaction (AS-PCR).
232 Cytokine inhibitory activity of eurycomanone in RAW 264.7 cells stimulated with viral-mimicking poly (I:C) / Nguyen Thi Ha Trang, Tran Thu Trang, Nguyen Trung Nam // .- 2023 .- Vol 21 - Number 3 .- P. 435-441 .- 610
Poly (I:C) (Polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid) is a synthetic analog of double-stranded RNA binding toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) and mimicking a virus infection in macrophage. These results suggested that eurycomanone has a potentially regulatory role on production of both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in macrophage in the mimicking context of virus infection. Whether eurycomanone inhibits the binding of poly (I:C)-TLR3 or intracellular signaling pathways needs further investigation.

236 Fetal - maternal hemorrhage: A comparison of two cases / Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga, Phan Thi Huyen Ninh, Pham Thao Nguyen // .- 2023 .- Tập 173 - Số 12 - Tháng 12 .- P. 249-256 .- 610
Almost all pregnancies have only a small amount of fetal blood in maternal circulation. In some rare cases, massive fetal-maternal hemorrhage can result in rapid fetal hemodynamic collapse, leading to severe fetal morbidity and mortality. Unfortunately, fetal – maternal hemorrhage is rarely diagnosed prenatally because clinical manifestations are often nonspecific, subtle, and difficult to identify at the time of the event. In this article, we present two cases of large fetal-maternal hemorrhage which were proven by the Kleihaure-Betke test to highlight the difference between nonspecific initial manifestations and the outcome of each case. Moreover, we would like to emphasize the importance of early detection and timely treatment to prevent potentially devastating complications of this condition.
237 Conservative management of chylous fistula following laparoscopic partial nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma: A case report and literature review / Nguyen Dao Uyen, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Do Truong Thanh, Le Van Hung // .- 2023 .- Tập 173 - Số 12 - Tháng 12 .- P. 257-261 .- 610
Chylous fistula is a rare complication following renal surgery, especially partial nephrectomy due to renal cell cancer. A unified treatment guideline for this complication is currently unavailable. We report a clinical case of chylous fistula after laparoscopic partial nephrectomy due to renal cell cancer, seen on the 4th postoperative day (POD), which was successfully treated conservatively by octreotide and diet adjustments. We take this opportunity to review similar cases mentioned in the literature in order to contribute to the knowledge of symptoms, management and treatment of this complication.
238 Primary mucinous skin cancer: A case report and review of the literature / Pham Duy Manh, Nguyen Xuan Hau, Nguyen Xuan Hien, Trinh Le Huy // .- 2023 .- Tập 173 - Số 12 - Tháng 12 .- P. 262-266 .- 610
Primary mucinous carcinoma of the skin (PMCS) is an extremely uncommon skin cancer originating from sweat glands. We present a case of a male patient diagnosed with PMCS who was initially misdiagnosed with benign sebaceous cysts. A 62-year-old male patient presented to a private clinic with a chief complaint of a slowly progressing nodule located under his lower lip for the past two years; The nodule was locally excised . The histopathology analysis yielded a diagnosis of mucinous carcinoma with a positive circumferential margin. Reexcison was performed, and the final histopathology result was a small nest of mucinous carcinoma with a negative surgical margin.

240 Inhibitory effects of trans-cinnamaldehyde on candida spp. Biofilm and planktonic form compared to nystatin: A comparative analysis / Dang Anh Tuan, Ngo Vo Thien Nhan, Pham Vu Nhat Uyen, Bui Thi Hong Loan, Jan Masak, Tran Ngoc Dang // .- 2023 .- Tập 173 - Số 12 - Tháng 12 .- P. 167-175 .- 610
Trans-Cinnamaldehyde, an α, β-unsaturated aromatic aldehyde, was a derivative of Cinnamonnum obtusifolium - Lauraceae; its bioavailability allows it to be used in the treatment of fungal infections as Candida species causing opportunistic fungal infections are common today. Antibiotic resistance in fungi is often due to their ability to form biofilm. Therefore, new substances with antibiofilm were being investigated as alternative treatment. Representatives of Candida spp. were used to determine the MIC, MBIC50, MBIC80, MBIC100, and MFC of trans-Cinnamaldehyde compared to Nystatin which is used for treatment of Candida infections in Vietnam. The most important antibiofilm effect of trans-Cinnamaldehyde was demonstrated by the CLSI M27-A2 method. Trans-Cinnamaldehyde was given MBIC100 higher than PMIC from 10 to 20 times, while Nystatin was given MBIC100 higher than PMIC from 5 to 20 times. In addition, PMFC of trans-Cinnamaldehyde was equivalent (Candida albicans and Candida tropicalis) or only twice (Candida glabrata) PMIC. The jump in Candida biofilm inhibitory activity was short, from MBIC50 to MBIC100 (no intermediate value, MBIC80). Trans-Cinnamaldehyde extract, compared to Nystatin, had a generally similar effect in preventing the growth and loss of Candida spp. both in biofilm and planktonic form and was somewhat more effective against Candida spp. in biofilm form.
