56911Problem-Based learning : an approach to medical education
In this book, the authors address some basic problems in the learning of biomedical science, medicine, and the other health sciences. Students in most medical schools, especially in basic science courses, are required to memorize a large number of "facts," facts which may or may not be relevant to medical practice. Problem-based learning has two fundamental postulates--the learning through problem-solving is much more effective for creating a body of knowledge usable in the future, and that physician skills most important for patients are problem-solving skills, rather than memory skills. This book presents the scientific basis of problem-based learning and goes on to describe the approaches to problem-based medical learning that have been developed over the years at McMaster University, largely by Barrows and Tamblyn.
56912Problem-Based learning : an inquiry approach
This standards-based, teacher-friendly second edition offers step-by-step procedures that make this effective teaching model highly doable for all teachers, with examples showing problem-based learning in action.
56913Problem-based learning for math & science : integrating inquiry and the internet : 2nd ed.
Illustrates how to strengthen learners' problem-solving skills by incorporating problem-based learning (PBL) with Internet resources and presents projects that correlate to national science, mathematics, and technology standards.
56914Problems & solutions in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics
Contents: The Breakdown of Classical Mechanics; Review of Classical Mechanics; Elementary Systems; One-Dimensional Problems; More One-Dimensional Problems; Mathematical Foundations; Physical Interpretation; Distributions and Fourier; ...
56915Problems in electronics with solutions : 5th ed.
The 282 problems are divided up into 23 sections and the solutions are separated from the problems so that the students shall not see solutions by accident. The answer is also given, however, at the end of each prblem for convenience. A thorough grasp of the principles involved in any particular problem cannot be obtained by merely reading through the solution...
56916Procedural elements of computer graphics
This textbook, offering coverage of computer graphics, features and emphasis on rendering an in-depth coverage of classical computer algorithms. It also contains over 90 worked examples.
56917Procedural storytelling in game design
This edited collection of chapters concerns the evolving discipline of procedural storytelling in video games. Games are an interactive medium, and this interplay between author, player and machine provides new and exciting ways to create and tell stories. In each essay, practitioners of this artform demonstrate how traditional storytelling tools such as characterization, world-building, theme, momentum and atmosphere can be adapted to full effect, using specific examples from their games. The reader will learn to construct narrative systems, write procedural dialog, and generate compelling characters with unique personalities and backstories.
