- Tóm tắt: Continuing the tradition of Friends of Vietnam Heritage to promote the understanding of Vietnam’s heritage, this guidebook focuses on the old section of the pottery commune of Bát Tràng, a village with a depth of history hitheto unknown many outsiders. To enable the visitor to see different aspects of the activities, buildings and people of the village, the book is based on a self-guided walk. There are three different circuits lasting from 45 minutes to two hours, all shown on the map. Whichever route you follow, the book gives information on the history and traditions of the village and its people, takes you to places where ceramics are being made using traditional or modern methods, and describes the communal building and features of interest in the lanes. All the walks finish in the large ceramics market, where you can see and buy the wide variety of ceramics produced. With each visit that we made to Bát Tràng while researching this publications, we became more aware of how much the village has to offer to both the one day visitor and those more interested in looking deeper into the making of ceramics.
