1 Health-related quality of life and associated factors in children with crohn’s disease at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital / Nguyen Trong Phuoc, Le Thi Huong, Nguyen Thi Viet Ha // .- 2023 .- Tập 173 - Số 12 - Tháng 12 .- P. 194-206 .- 610

Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is increasingly recognized as one of the goals of holistic healthcare. Crohn's disease is the most common inflammatory bowel disease that necessitates long-term management and increases the risk of psychological distress and social disruption, leading to impaired HRQoL in comparison to healthy controls. We administered the PedsQLTM 4.0 scale to 40 children aged 2 to 17 years with Crohn’s disease and their parents to evaluate the HRQoL of patients and define the variables that impact these individuals. Our study indicated that children with Crohn's disease experienced a decrease in their HRQoL in school functioning. We found that factors related to decreased quality of life in these patients included gender (female), stunting, living in low-income families, higher disease activity index, and undergoing surgical intervention.

2 Hyperuricemia and testosterone deficiency: An underestimated correlation / Nguyen Hoai Bac, Dinh Huu Viet, Tran Van Kien // .- 2023 .- Tập 173 - Số 12 - Tháng 12 .- P. 120-127 .- 610

Hyperuricemia and testosterone deficiency (TD) are two relatively common conditions in clinical practice. We conducted the present study on 9573 men to evaluate the association between the two conditions and establish a hypothetic explanation.

3 Activation of SH2 domain-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase and inflammatory expression in psoriasis / Bui Kieu Trang, Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, Nguyen Thi Xuan // Công nghệ sinh học - Vietnam Journal of Biotechnology .- 2022 .- Vol 20 .- P. 393-399 .- 610

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by abnormal proliferation and differentiation of keratinocytes and infiltration of inflammatory cells into the site of inflammation. Plaque psoriasis is the most common type of psoriasis, affecting up to 80–90% of psoriasis cases. Among inflammatory cells, myeloid dendritic cells or Langerhans cells are mainly activated cells during the pathogenesis of psoriasis to induce activation and differentiation of naive T cells into T helper cells (Th)1 and Th17 cells. SH2 domain-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase (SHP) is a negative regulator of the phosphorylation of several proteins involved in cellular differentiation, growth and activation. Chronic inflammation promotes tumor progression, which is characterized by the release of carcinogenic antigens, including alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and cancer antigen 125 (CA125) into blood and urine. They are common tumor markers to serve as predictors of cancer development and survival of cancer patients. To this end, blood samples of 103 psoriasis patients and 46 healthy subjects were collected. This study further hint for investigations on the functional role of SHP1 in regulating activation of immune cells present in psoriasis patients.

4 Expression of deubiquitinase genes and inflammatory response in myeloid leukemia / Nguyen Thanh Huyen, Nguyen Hoang Giang, Nguyen Thi Xuan // Công nghệ sinh học - Vietnam Journal of Biotechnology .- 2022 .- Vol 20 .- P. 401-408 .- 610

Myeloid leukemia (ML) is a cancer of the blood that begins when cells of the myeloid lineage uncontrollably change and grow. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a disorder of rapid, uncontrolled growth of immature myeloid cells in the blood and bone marrow. Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is characterized by the aberrant proliferation of myeloid cells and driven by the translocation of regions of the BCR and ABL genes to form the Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome. To this end, blood samples of 20 AML and 62 CML patients and the control group consisting of 37 healthy individuals were used to examine the mRNA expression of A20, OTUB1, OTUB2 and Cezanne genes by using quantitative RT-PCR and determine IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1β concentrations by using ELISA. In conclusion, this study revealed the different DUB involvement in the pathogenesis of ML, suggesting further investigations on gene polymorphisms and their functions linked to biological properties of leukemia cells.

5 Blockade of interleukin-33 activities by recombinant interleukin-33 Trap Fc protein would be a novel therapeutic strategy in allergic asthma / Thao Thi Thanh Nguyen, Phuc Hong Vo, Quan Dang Nguyen // Công nghệ sinh học - Vietnam Journal of Biotechnology .- 2022 .- Vol 20 .- P. 409-424 .- 610

The majority of autoimmune and allergic diseases are associated with abnormal expression of interleukin (IL)-33, a member of the IL-1 family of cytokines, that function dually as a proinflammatory cytokine and a transcriptional factor. We created an IL-33 inhibitor called "IL-33 Trap Fc" constructed by fusion of an Fc fragment of human immunoglobulin G1 and two distinct extracellular part receptors involved in interacting with IL-33, IL-1 receptors accessory protein, and IL-33 receptor. IL-33 Trap Fc was expressed by two systems, mammalian HEK293 cells and Pichia pastoris yeast. These data collectively suggested that IL-33 Trap Fc potently blocks IL-33 in vitro and in vivo, which may be a novel therapeutic strategy for IL-33-mediated allergic diseases.

6 Antifungal activity of oxidative damaging agents in combination with metal cations against Trichophyton rubrum isolated from a dermatological patient / Nguyen Thi Nguyet, Tran Cam Van, Nguyen Xuan Thu, Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong // Công nghệ sinh học - Vietnam Journal of Biotechnology .- 2022 .- Vol 20 .- P. 537-544 .- 610

Trichophyton rubrum is a causative agent responsible for human chronic dermatophytosis worlwide. It is a common causative agent of the dermatophyte infections and resistant to many antifungal drugs. Oxidative damaging agents belong to a strong antimicrobial group and have been intensively investigated. The synergistic oxidative damage can occur if the agents react with metal cations. Therefore, in this study the antifungal activity of formulas containing the two oxidative damaging agents, including hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and 8-hydroxyquinoline (8HQ), in combination with metal cations has been determined to examine the synergistic damage in T. rubrum isolated from the skin of a dermatological patient. The isolate was identified by morphology observations, biochemical tests and sequence analysis of ITS1-4 gene, in comparison with the similar ITS nucleotide sequences of others.

7 Association of TEX15 rs142485241 with male infertility in 429 Vietnamese individuals / Nguyen Thuy Duong, La Duc Duy, Nong Van Hai // Academia Journal of Biology .- 2022 .- Vol 44 - N2 .- P. 73-78 .- 610

Male infertility is a reproductive disease caused by various factors, including environmental factors and genetic defects. Thousands of genes have been identified to cause and associate with male infertility, such as TEX15. Our study aimed to identify the association between the polymorphism TEX15 rs142485241 and male infertility. Total DNAs were extracted from the whole blood of 429 unrelated Vietnamese individuals, including 202 healthy controls and 227 patients with male infertility. The genotypes and alleles of the polymorphism were determined by the PCR-RFLP method. The data were analyzed by statistical methods to assess the association of TEX15 rs142485241 with male infertility. The results showed that the distribution of genotypes of the polymorphism followed the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (p-value > 0.05). However, no association was established between the polymorphism TEX15 rs142485241 and male infertility in the three models (additive, dominant, and recessive) (p-value > 0.05). This study would contribute to the knowledge about the association of TEX15 with male infertility in the Vietnamese population.

8 The association of TEX15 haplotype with male infertility in Vietnamese individuals / La Duc Duy, Nguyen Phuong Anh, Nguyen Thuy Duong // Công nghệ sinh học - Vietnam Journal of Biotechnology .- 2022 .- Vol 20 - N2 .- P. 219-224 .- 610

To assess the relationship between male infertility and TEX15 in a Vietnamese cohort, we performed a case-control association study of polymorphism TEX15 rs323345 and a further analysis of haplotypes of TEX15 rs323345 and TEX15 rs142485241. A total of 420 unrelated Vietnamese males, including 212 infertile patients and 208 healthy controls, were recruited for the present study. The genotype and allele frequencies of the polymorphism TEX15 rs323345 were determined by PCR-RFLP method.

9 The association of CFAP65 with male infertility in Vietnamese individuals / Nguyen Thuy Duong, Tran Huu Dinh, Nong Van Hai // Công nghệ sinh học - Vietnam Journal of Biotechnology .- 2022 .- Vol 20 - N1 .- P. 09-14 .- 610

The study aimed to investigate the correlation between the polymorphism CFAP65 rs117885048 and male infertility in a Vietnamese population comprising 207 infertile men and 217 healthy controls. As a result, the studied population followed Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) (p> 0.05) and the frequencies of genotypes CC/CT/TT were 0.875, 0.12, and 0.003, respectively. The Chi-square test revealed no association between the polymorphism CFAP65 rs117885048 and the disease in this population (p > 0.05). To further interpret the correlation between single nucleotide polymorphisms in the CFAP65 gene and male infertility, a more comprehensive study with other polymorphisms needs to be considered.
