The research objectives are to analyze the differences in the occurrence percentages of sound connection phenomena in 100 songs and to evaluate the English-majored students' ability to distinguish types of connected speech in songs. Additionally, the research methods used in this article include information collection, quantitative, and experimental methods. In addition, research data focus on three kinds of sound connection phenomena in 100 English songs and 20 sound connection recognition analyses of English-majored students participating in a Phonetics-Phonology class, course K27 at Duy Tan University.

This research delves into the intriguing topic of thematic roles, one of the basic notions in the syntax. The study also investigates the connections between thematic roles and two writing genres: journalistic and literary writing. Additionally, it aims to offer learners a deeper understanding of how the characteristics and word usage of different texts can vary depending on thematic roles. To accomplish these objectives, the research will identify and categorize thematic roles based on the analysis materials, compare and analyze the frequency of thematic roles in the two writing styles.

This study investigated the perception of students of English at Can Tho University (CTU) in learning literature in English. The difficuties included a lack of literary knowledge and experience, literary terminology, and linguistic competence for the subject. Addit ionally, the teachers’ suggestions focused on two major measures, namely, (1) encouraging a habit of extensive reading and (2) creating opportunities for students to express opinions and get engaged in discussions about literature.

Spanning approximately ten years, the integration of Problem/Project-based Learning approach through three modules in the curriculum in all faculties at Duy Tan University has generally been perceived as beneficial to the undergraduates in a range of areas; this initiation has also driven a large number of researches which are concerned with the effectiveness of this student-centered approach. In the same direction, this study was aimed to contribute to this growing body of literature; it explored the key stake-holders’ perceptions of the benefits and challenges of implementing PBL in ESP classes at DTU. Data were obtained from the questionnaire distributed to the students from three faculties (N = 264) and the interviews with teachers of English from the Faculty of English (N = 4). The major findings indicated a generally positive attitude of the students to the benefits of PBL in all the areas investigated; most of these advantages were agreed on and justified by the lecturers interviewed. With respect to the challenges, the opinions of the two groups were similar in some and different in others. The qualitative data also suggested immediate measures so as to enhance the strengths of this approach.

Conversation - the verbal communication between people is indispensable in daily life. However, interlocutors cannot always understand all the utterances during their conversations because of some trouble sources causing communication breakdown. Repairing the trouble sources is neccessary for the interlocutors to get an effective conversation. With the aim of discovering the main grammatical structures and their parts of speech of other-repair in English, data for the investigation is 262 extracts of 23 English film conversations containing other-repair. The result shows that hearers (H) in English film conversations (EFCs) repaired 05 syntactic components such as noun, verb, adjective, clause, preposition.
