Nghiên cứu nhằm cung cấp một số thông tin về đặc điểm của các loại tế bào gốc từ tủy xương (BM) và vai trò của chúng ở bệnh tiểu đường (DM): chúng bị ảnh hưởng như thế nào bởi sự toàn vẹn của BM, tiềm năng và ứng dụng của tế bào gốc từ BM trong điều trị các biến chứng của DM. Tiểu đường (DM) là một bệnh mạn tính không lây, đang gia tăng nhanh chóng, nhất là ở những nước đang phát triển và trở thành gánh nặng bệnh tật toàn cầu. Điều làm cho bệnh DM trở nên nghiêm trọng chính là các biến chứng của nó. Trong y học tái tạo, liệu pháp tế bào gốc được đánh giá là một phương pháp mới điều trị hiệu quả các biến chứng của DM. Tế bào gốc có nguồn gốc từ tủy xương (BM) được xem là một ứng cử viên sáng giá trong liệu pháp này. Tuy nhiên, bản thân BM cũng bị ảnh hưởng bởi bệnh lý DM vì nó có thể phát triển một bệnh lý vi mạch và bệnh thần kinh tương tự như các mô khác của cơ thể. Trên cơ sở đó, nhóm tác giả đề xuất một số phương pháp mới để tối ưu hóa liệu pháp tế bào gốc.
