20821Effective management of local area networks : functions, instruments, and people
This guide to building and managing LANs offers tested procedures for planning, designing, tuning and improving data, voice and hypermedia networks. It focuses on LAN-related network management instruments and techniques, such as: implementing and maintaining user-level services; detecting, isolating and solving LAN problems for popular technologies like Ethernet and token ring; sizing and modelling network needs; maintaining uninterrupted operations even in complex environments; developing advanced naming services and automated trouble-ticketing; designing effective security measures; implementing expert systems to simplify management chores; creating database support systems; and administering interconnected LANs, MANs and WANs.

20826Effectiveness and limitations of IT-based business simulation games
The first part will provide background information to help understanding the focus of this paper by explaining firstly what simulation games are and how they are used in business education and training, as well as how they are supported by IT technologies. Moreover, the process of simulation gaming will also mentioned. In the second part, several classifications of learning outcomes will be introduced to provide additional information and set a framework for the later assessment of the instructional method. The third and the fourth part are the main sections of the paper. In these parts, correspondingly, arguments on the effectiveness and limitations of IT-based business simulation game will be mentioned, along with theoretical and empirical supports.
20827Effectiveness and safety of LX1 cream in the clinical treatment of facial contusions
This research was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of LX1 cream in the clinical treatment of facial contusions. The study was conducted on 66 patients diagnosed with facial contusions, divided into 2 groups: Control group with patients treated according to the anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-edema protocol currently used in the department. Study group with patients treated according to the anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-edema protocol currently used in the department combined with the application of LX1 cream.
20828Effects of augmentation with Bacillus sp. DT1 on carbonfuran degradation and bacterial community in soil
Carbofuran is frequently applied to crop fields to combat insects globally causing serious environmental pollution. In this study, the enhanced degradation of carbofuran in soil by augmentation with Bacillus sp. DT1 was determined. The results showed that the augmentation with the bacterial strain increased the degradation by almost 30% compared to attenuation after 30 days at an initial concentration of 10 mg/kg dry soil. The half-life values of the insecticide were 41.6 and 17.9 days for attenuation and augmentation, respectively. Moreover, the augmentation with Bacillus sp. DT1 significantly increased sequence numbers of 16 S rRNA in soil compared to the initial stage. However, α-diversity indices, i.e., values of OTUs, ACE, Chao1 and Shannon showed no statistical differences in soil with and without the insecticide addition, with and without augmentation after 30 days. These results showed that carbofuran did not inhibit or stimulate the growth of soil bacteria at 10 mg/kg dry soil.
20829Effects of FU Plus tablets on intracavernosal pressure in animal experimentsanimals
Erectile dysfunction is defined as the persistent inability to attain and maintain an erection sufficient to permit satisfactory sexual performance, that may affect physical and psychosocial health, and the patients quality of life. A popular trend is to discover and research therapeutic drugs derived from medicinal herbs. FU Plus tablets including Epimedium extract, Tribulus Terrestris Extract, L-Arginine HCl, Red Ginseng extract, Zinc gluconate, Selenium yeast and Yohimbine HCl is a product expected to treat erectile dysfunction. The study was carried out to evaluate the effects of FU Plus tablets on the erectile function through intracavernosal pressure (ICP) in experimental animals. Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups of ten that were given normal saline, sildenafil and FU Plus tablets, respectively. ICP response after cavernous nerve stimulation was recorded. Sildenafil-treated rats and FU Plus-treated rats had shorter response latency, higher peak ICP and longer response duration than untreated control rats. In conclusion, FU Plus tablets have the potential for treating erectile dysfunction.
20830Effects of rubiadin-3-methyl ether on the immune properties of hUC-MSCs
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have become an effective tool for treating immune-related diseases due to their multilineage potential and immunomodulatory capabilities. One of the main factors contributing to their immunomodulatory capabilities is the IDO cascade, which was chosen as the main subject in this research. The IDO-Kyn-AHR-CYP cascade was chosen to evaluate the immunomodulatory properties of treated MSCs, with expression levels of the key gene IDO (indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase) selected as the screening criterion. Cultured human umbilical cord MSCs (hUC-MSCs) were treated with different natural bioactive compounds.
