20011Expression of deubiquitinase genes and inflammatory response in myeloid leukemia

Myeloid leukemia (ML) is a cancer of the blood that begins when cells of the myeloid lineage uncontrollably change and grow. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a disorder of rapid, uncontrolled growth of immature myeloid cells in the blood and bone marrow. Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is characterized by the aberrant proliferation of myeloid cells and driven by the translocation of regions of the BCR and ABL genes to form the Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome. To this end, blood samples of 20 AML and 62 CML patients and the control group consisting of 37 healthy individuals were used to examine the mRNA expression of A20, OTUB1, OTUB2 and Cezanne genes by using quantitative RT-PCR and determine IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1β concentrations by using ELISA. In conclusion, this study revealed the different DUB involvement in the pathogenesis of ML, suggesting further investigations on gene polymorphisms and their functions linked to biological properties of leukemia cells.

20012Expression of global consensus non-structural protein 1 (NS1) of dengue virus serotypes 1 and 2 in Nicotiana benthamiana

Dengue viruses, which consist of four distinct serotypes, belong to the Flavivirus family, one of the most important arthropod-borne pathogen groups for humans. Vietnam is among the tropical countries that have endemic dengue outbreaks, and in 2022, the number of infections as well as fatal cases reached a record high, causing a great economic burden to the public health system. Although all four dengue serotypes have been circulating in Vietnam, serotypes 1 and 2 have been dominating in the last few decades.

20013Expression of transcription factors involved in epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition of the breast cancer cell line MCF-7 co-cultured with adipose tissue mesenchymal stem cells

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women globally. The tumor microenvironment plays a vital role in epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), leading to the invasion and metastasis of cancer cells. The tumor microenvironment includes all components of the tumor cells, including the extracellular matrix, tumor vasculature, mesenchymal stem cells, immune cells, and fibroblasts. Understanding the interactions between mesenchymal stem cells and cancer cells is essential in determining the role of mesenchymal stem cells in diagnosing and treating breast cancer.

20016Extensive air showers

Ultrahigh energy cosmic rays carry information about their sources and the intervening medium apart from providing a beam of particles for studying certain features of high energy interactions inaccessible at man-made accelerators. They can be studied only be the extensive air showers (EASs) they generate while passing through the Earth's atmosphere, since their fluxes are too low for the experiments of limited capability flown in balloons and satellites. The EAS is generated by a series of interactions of the primary cosmic ray and its progeny with the atmospheric nuclei.

20017Extraterrestrials

The book covers various iterations of SETI, or the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, both in listening for messages from space as well as sending them. Roush also covers more recent efforts to find exoplanets, worlds similar enough to our own to possibly harbor life in even very basic forms. Some of this research is driven by discoveries of 'extremophile' life here on Earth in places and conditions previously considered to be unconducive to life forms.

20018Extreme killing : understanding serial and mass murder

This book provides a comprehensive, fascinating overview of multiple homicide, including both serial and mass murder. Adopting a unified conceptual framework for understanding these divergent forms of extreme killing, this book illustrates the many violent expressions of power, revenge, terror, greed, and loyalty using contemporary and classic case studies in multiple murder.

20019Extreme physics : properties and behavior of matter at extreme conditions

Focusing on computational modeling, this book offers a comprehensive introduction to the basic physical theory on matter at extreme conditions and the mathematical modeling techniques involved in numerical simulations of its properties and behavior. End-of-chapter exercises make this an invaluable resource for both academic researchers and graduate students.

20020Extreme programming explained : embrace change

Extreme Programming (XP) was conceived and developed to address the specific needs of software development conducted by small teams in the face of vague and changing requirements. This new lightweight methodology challenges many conventional tenets, including the long-held assumption that the cost of changing a piece of software necessarily rises dramatically over the course of time. XP recognizes that projects have to work to achieve this reduction in cost and exploit the savings once they have been earned.
