  • Tóm tắt: Social Problems in a Diverse Society focuses on the significance of race, class, and gender; uses personal narratives to convey how problems are experienced by individuals and groups; and applies sociological perspectives throughout to examine social issues. The text includes five chapters on problems based on inequalities: wealth and poverty, race and ethnicity, gender, age, and sexual orientation. In the third edition, Diana Kendall, who specializes in social theory, continues to blend contemporary feminist and humanist perspectives with the three main sociological perspectives. The third edition also includes new boxes entitled "Social Problems and Statistics," which look at how statistics are used (or misused) to inform the public about social problems. Additionally, Kendall has added important new coverage of terrorism and national security, and white collar crime.
